Born in Lancashire, UK, I moved to New Zealand 15 years ago where I took the opportunity to develop my art skills at the Learning Connection, Island Bay. I thoroughly enjoyed my time there and overall, developed a preference for painting seascapes – always inspired by the changing light and the distinctive colours of New Zealand.
I have previously exhibited at the New Zealand Art Show in 2007, 2008, and 2015, and I have taken part in exhibitions in and around Seatoun, including the Miramar Art Trail and St Pats School Exhibition 2014. After 5 years away from painting due to other work commitments, I hope I can now find the time to continue with what I enjoy most. I work mostly in oils and acrylic on canvas, and I have also spent some time illustrating using water colours with pen and ink. I take an interest in photography and I intend to develop my skills in this area, especially where it would assist my composition structure and lighting. With two dogs to walk, I always carry a camera with me! I enjoy travelling and I always try to persuade my family to include a tour round a gallery on city breaks. I was very lucky to be able to visit New York and our visit to the MOMA was a highlight for me! |
